Can you help the Welcome Centre?

The Welcome Centre logo
The Welcome Centre is an independent registered charity that offers a unique service. It is based in the Newsome Ward.

The centre supports individuals and families in crisis by providing food packs, toiletries, bedding, towels, home-starter packs, clothes and baby items. The centre offers practical help, advice and information, as well as emotional support for homeless people, families in debt, vulnerable young people and many others who are in urgent need. Many of these vulnerable people are Newsome residents.

The Welcome Centre has had a very busy year, working hard to ensure that local individuals and families in crisis are given the practical support that they need. In the past year, there has been an 85% increase in the number of packs that the centre has given out. Due to this increase in demand, the Welcome Centre’s stocks are now very low.

Other ways that you can help
Some local groups, residents and schools are already working to support the Welcome Centre, through fundraising events and volunteering. Our Newsome Community cards project is always looking for donations of good quality used greetings cards, which will be used to support the Centre.
